Motor Bearing Selection Guide: Speed, Temperature and Noise Matching

The motor is the most commonly used power core in industrial equipment, and bearings directly determine the running noise, temperature rise, service life and operational stability of the motor. Many overseas buyers and motor manufacturers often encounter the same problem: bearings look identical in model, but after installation, they produce abnormal noise, overheat easily, and fail prematurely. The root cause is mismatched bearing selection and working conditions.

When selecting motor bearings, focus on three core factors: speed, operating temperature, and noise level.

For standard low-to-medium speed industrial motors and civil motors, standard deep groove ball bearings are preferred for their simple structure, low friction coefficient, cost-effectiveness, and suitability for normal temperature and medium-load conditions. For high-speed variable-frequency motors, servo motors and spindle motors, ordinary general-purpose bearings are not applicable. Special motor bearings with increased internal clearance, high precision and low noise must be used to avoid temperature rise and vibration caused by high-speed operation.

For motors operating in high-temperature enclosed environments or under long-term full load, bearings with high-temperature grease and enhanced heat treatment are required to prevent grease drying and bearing annealing failure. For household appliance motors and silent industrial motors, priority should be given to noise level and sealing structure. Double-sealed, low-vibration motor bearings are recommended to reduce running noise and meet the overall silence standard.

In addition, bearing internal clearance, accuracy class and fit tolerance of inner/outer rings must strictly match the motor shaft diameter and housing size. As a source factory, we provide a full range of standard motor bearings and can customize clearance, sealing and noise levels according to customer working conditions, suitable for bulk procurement of various industrial motors, variable-frequency motors and servo motors.
